Major Incident Recovery Team (MIRT) will perform the actions as mentioned in the recovery plan till the service is recovered. The restoration team follows the standard incident process for major incident resolution and recovery. The difference however lies in the extent of co-ordination required between relevant teams for quicker recovery. Also, in this case the entire process is governed by Major Incident Manager and other stakeholders. The Major Incident Manager continues to monitor and adjust the recovery plan throughout the life of the major incident, in coordination with recovery team. During the life of major incident at approriate intervals, the Major Incident Manager along with recovery team must check the progress of recovery actions. Once the resolution is found it should be tested for sucess and implemented thereafter. The Major Incident Manager and the restoration team must evaluate the resolution to confirm its completeness. If complete, then the Major Incident Manager should inform all relevant stakeholders of the same.

In case a change is needed to implement the agreed resolution, the MIRT should follow the agreed Change Management process. Procedures for emergency change are typically triggered to resolve the major incident.

The teams engaged in recovery must record all the actions taken for major incident recovery in the Major Incident Record. It is important that all actions are recorded in detail, with options considered and reason for the choice mde. This information can be helpful for post incident review and for creation of the Problem Record.
